MAKE MORE ROOM

MAKE MORE ROOM

When’s the last time you stopped and gave God some time in your schedule? When’s the last time you turned off your phone, social media, favorite tv show or movie just to spend some time with God? If you can’t remember, then you may be disconnected and you may just need to make more room for God. Have you ever found yourself wondering why things aren’t going right? Have you ever found yourself confused about where you’re going? Have you ever found yourself frustrated with pulse of your life? Well, maybe it’s time you spent some alone time with God. The truth is that life gets complicated quick when we don’t stop and spend time with God. We get confused. We lose our way. We forget who we are. We allow things and people to crowd our schedules in such a way that crowds God out. How can that be when we depend on Him for everything? How do we ignore the One who gives us life and provides our every need? But we do it. And we do it easily.

God desires a relationship with us. But it’s super hard to have a relationship with Him when you don’t spend time with Him. It’s just like any other relationship. Relationships, friendships and marriages require cultivation and time. If you don’t spend time with someone, you can’t possibly say you have a relationship with them. Well, I guess you could, it just wouldn’t be a very good one. God wants priority in our lives. He wants to be involved in every decision. He wants to be involved in every concern. He wants to be involved in every desire. He wants to live in the very place that we crowd Him out. Have you crowded him out lately with your calendar? Perhaps you’ve crowded Him out with social media and countless hours on the internet. Or, maybe even perhaps you’ve crowded Him out with your career. Whatever it is that has taken His place and space in your heart, you need to move it over. Set it aside. What you may not realize is that you could be setting yourself short. We set ourselves short when we don’t include God. We miss out on blessings, guidance, protection and direction from the Holy Spirit. We simply miss God because we neglected to stop and visit Him or invite Him into our space. I get it. There’s a million and one things we have to do. And there always will be. But, it’s up to us to break the cycle of forgetting to include Him. The more you leave Him out, the further away you will be from your destiny. Staying close to Him keeps you grounded and on the right path. If you’ve ever found yourself on the wrong path, you know there’s nothing enjoyable about it. You can be found pursuing things and humans that were never meant for you to pursue. You can be found drifting away from your purpose and waste plenty of time, energy and resources on all the wrong things, people and places. But- there’s a remedy.

The good thing about our God is that it is never too late to come back to Him. He’s waiting on you. Even though we don’t always sit and wait for Him, He’s always waiting on us. He never leaves us. We leave Him. He’s always there, patiently waiting on His children. He’s a good good Father and we are loved by Him. So, if you haven’t been faithful in making time for God, you can start over. You can start now. He will honor your start. He has so much to say to you. He’s waiting to speak to you. However, you won’t be able to hear Him if there’s a bunch of noise in your background. Those ideas and that creativity that you need for your business idea? He’s got it. The guidance you need to decide on the next step in your life? He’s got it. The answer you are waiting for? It’s in Him. In Him is everything and everything is in Him. When you spend time with Him, He will show you things and share things with you that will shed a light unto your path. He will cause you to have clarity and peace in situations that seem impossible. He will cause you to prosper and be victorious in circumstances that should have killed you. However, we will miss out on these benefits if we don’t spend time with Him.

So how do you spend time with Him? Reading the Bible and prayer are the most critical tools in spending time with Him. Worship music, going to church, listening to sermons on YouTube and reading inspirational books are all great avenues to get you to the right place, but your answers are in His word and they most surely come from prayer. Seek Him daily and diligently. He will reward you. So, if you have been unfaithful in your time with Him and you have allowed things and people to get in the way of your relationship with Him, start over. He’s waiting. Turn off everything and everyone that so easily besets you and MAKE MORE ROOM. Give Him some space. Make more white calendar space for Him. And if your calendar is full, take some stuff off and eliminate it. We do it all the time for humans, but will you do it for Him?
