There’s a spirit that seems to be running freely in the body of Christ and it is none other than the spirit of JEALOUSY. There are so many people of God that are jealous of one another that it’s unreal. Everybody wants to do what everybody else is doing. Everybody wants to keep up with everybody else. People jealous of other people’s looks. Women jealous of other women’s style of dress. Single women jealous of married women. Married women jealous of single women. Barren married women jealous of other married women who can have children. Men jealous of the cars that other men drive. Men jealous of the job that other men have. Ministers jealous of other minsters because they get chosen to preach on a Sunday morning rather than a Sunday evening. Colleagues jealous of other colleagues on the job because they got a promotion. And the list goes on and on and on and on and on…

Let me just say, every person must learn to be content and faithful with the portion that was placed in their hands. Every person must learn to accept the plan and the will of God for their life. Every person must learn to walk the path of life that was created for their feet. We do not have the ability to walk the paths of others. God did not grace us to do what someone else was called to do. However, He did grace us to do what He created us for. Each one of us have a purpose and I think I’m pretty accurate in stating that each one of our purposes are different. Although we were all created in the likeness and image of God, we all were created to serve in a different purpose in the kingdom of God.

This is why it’s so important that we don’t get caught up in a copy cat syndrome. And by copycat syndrome, I mean copying what someone else is doing with the portion that has been given to them. So many of us are getting caught up in this syndrome that it is unbelievable!!!! Someone starts a blog, so you start one. Someone starts a clothing line, so you start designing t-shirts. Someone starts a retail shop online and you like the idea so you start buying stuff just to sell it again. Okay, I have an even better one! Someone starts a women’s conference so you figure you’re going to do a girl’s conference. I mean, at some point you have to question, “God, am I just copying someone else or did you really call me to do this?” See what we fail to realize is that God graces people to do certain things and if He did not grace you to start a blog, a clothing line, a website, a retail shop and the likes, then you will not have the anointing, the energy or the strength to keep it going. It will fail just as sure as I’m typing this blog. You can’t do what everybody else does because you were not created for what everybody else was created to do. I mean, you might be good at something and don’t even know it because you’re too busy trying to do what someone else is doing. Yes, they may be doing well with what they’re doing and they might look good doing it, but maybe it’s because they’re supposed to be doing it.

God has gifted you and created you for a purpose. Each one of us have a different purpose and each one of us are talented and gifted in certain things. If creative arts isn’t your thing, then maybe education is. If education isn’t your thing, then maybe business is. If business isn’t your thing, then maybe it’s the medical field. If the medical field isn’t your thing, then maybe fashion is. Whatever it is, you need to seek God and ask Him what He would have you to do rather than chase after the wind in an area that you were never created to chase. YOU HAVE A PURPOSE. And if you haven’t figured out what that is yet, then you need to seek God for wisdom and guidance. If you believe He can give you wisdom, you will receive it…generously.

James 1:5

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

So, after you have asked God and He shows you what you are supposed to be doing in His Kingdom, keep your eyes on your your own grass and grow it. Focus on the portion that is in your hands. Forget about what everybody else is doing. If God didn’t call you to do something, then the bottom line is that you shouldn’t be doing it. Stop trying to force yourself into being someone that you’re not! You are only going to stress “you” out. When God has not graced you to do something it becomes stressful and it becomes very hard to manage. Even further, it’s very difficult to manage because you won’t have the resources or energy you need to sustain it. Where God guides, He provides.

PSALM 16:5

So, maybe you’re thinking, but “He did tell me to do this and I’m still struggling.” Well, maybe it’s just not the right season. So many times we get these huge and great ideas, but we want to execute them out of season. And because we want to execute them out of season, we get frustrated with ourselves and we get frustrated with God. What if God never intended for you to execute the big idea yet? What if He was just sharing a dream or a vision with you that is for an appointed time to come? We have to stop going after things in our timing. When will we learn that it never works? What’s so bad about waiting until God opens up the door for you in His timing? Wouldn’t things be so much easier? Just a thought to think about.

So as I close this up, the main thing that I really want you to take home and remember is that if something is supposed to happen for you, it will happen..with ease and effort and through no forcing of your own. Learn to be happy for others when the very thing that you would like to happen to you happens to them. It doesn’t mean that God thinks any less of you than He does someone else. It just means that that person is in the season to receive what God had planned to give them in that season. This is not the time to become jealous or go and try to copy them to mirror their success or their blessings. Because believe me, if you only knew what it took for them to get what they got, you probably wouldn’t have wanted to go through what they went through to get it.

Ephesians 2:10

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

God loves you and you are one of His many masterpieces. There’s no one else on the earth like you. And even if you are a twin, you still have a different DNA make-up and a different set of fingerprints than your twin. We were all made in God’s image, but we are all still yet so different. We must embrace our differences. I believe that when we can do this, our world will be so much more peaceful and it will become such a better place. Embrace you and all your uniqueness that comes with you. Be you. Everyone else is already taken.
